The Purpose of Eye Brows and Eye Lashes

Eyebrows are one of the most distinctive features on our face. You may think eyebrows are just for expressions – however they do have a very important role in protecting our eyes! The main function of eyebrows is to help preserve vision by keeping sweat and moisture away from our eyes. The arch shape as well as the direction of the hairs is to help direct moisture towards the sides of our faces, keeping it away from our eyes.

Like eyebrows, eyelashes have be regarded as a source of beauty in many cultures. They, also help protect our eyes. They however, keep airborne debris, or foreign objects out of our eyes. While eyebrows and eyelashes protect the eyes, if not groomed properly there can be a risk of infection including madarosis (loss of eyelashes), trichiasis (ingrown eyelashes), or styes (painful inflammation of eyelash follicles).

Eyebrows and eyelashes make a huge impact to not only our facial features but our eyes health. Remember to always keep your eyebrows and eyelashes healthy as they are the curtains to your eyes!
