Protecting your eyes at work | AOA

If you are working in an environment that involves debris, flying particles/objects, dirt, chemicals, or dust, it is highly encouraged that you wear some sort of protective eyewear, especially if you have recently had LASIK. Contact lenses do not provide protection from eye hazards in the workplace. However, the use of helmets, goggles, eye shields, or non-prescription safety glasses will significantly increase your protection from such hazards. In the event that you do get something in your eyes, lift your LASIK flap, or injure your eyes, seek immediate medical attention by either contacting your primary eye care provider! We want to ensure you can return to work as quickly as possible with the best eyesight out there!
